An extreme sports park has been opened in Pasvalis Smegduobiai Park – One of the most modern in Lithuania. It is expected that the new sports field will become a new center of attraction for leisure and sports for the youth of Pasvalis and the surrounding areas.
The elements of the skateboard park imitate the spaces found in street architecture – they will be suitable for ramp scooters, skateboards, BMX bikes and rollerblades – designed for a pleasant daily leisure time with the possibility for professional athletes to raise their level and train for all types of competitions. In the park, all the elements are arranged in a logical sequence so that they do not intersect with each other, and safe distances are maintained between them.
The opening ceremony of the new “Skeitpark” took place on October 29, Friday. A large number of people from Pasvaly had the opportunity to watch the “Kablys + Skatepark” program. Experienced and one of the best representatives of extreme sports from all over Lithuania demonstrated their abilities and complex tricks.
The municipality of Pasvalis allocated 22 thousand for the construction of an extreme sports park. euros, and 50 thousand EUR support was provided by the bioethanol and biogas production company “Kurana” operating in Pasvaly. The symbolic opening ribbon was cut by the mayor of Pasvalis district Gintautas Gegužinskas and the general director of “Kurana” Jurgis Polujanskas.
According to the mayor of Pasvalis district, G. Gegužinskas, the project of the new site was started after assessing the needs of the local youth. It is hoped that the new infrastructure will encourage children and adolescents to exercise more actively. Eventually, events and competitions are expected to be organized in the Pasvalis extreme sports park.
According to Jurgis Polujanskas, the manager of “Kurana”, the new “skate park” is an investment in the future of the Pasvalis region. “Promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle is particularly important, but it requires proper infrastructure. It is good that now a space is opening up for the youth of Pasvalis, where they can spend their free time meaningfully, or even reach for sports heights,” said J. Polujanskas.
During the celebration, the head of “Kablys + Skatepark” Einius Žiūkas noted that the extreme sports movement is spreading more and more and includes not only big cities, but also smaller Lithuanian cities and towns.
More and more modern extreme sports parks are being established in more and more Lithuanian cities, which are installed taking into account the suggestions of experts and the best international practices – one of the best examples of Pasvalis Skateparkas.
