The disinfectant liquid was presented to the doctors free of charge by the manufacturers – the Pasvalys company “Kurana”, which has already donated 35 thousand to the country’s hospitals. liters of this disinfectant. The disinfectant liquid was delivered to five hospitals in Rokiškis, Jonava, Šilute, Alytus and in Pakruojis. A ton of liquid will also reach the neighboring municipality of Pasvalys.
According to the doctors, the disinfectant liquid deficit was especially felt last year during the first quarantine, when all protective measures were missing – from masks and respirators to disinfectants. Now the situation is still tense, because the hospital has expanded COVID-19 departments due to the pandemic, and the premises have to be disinfected continuously. The head of the Pakruojis hospital and the chairman of the District Hospital Association, Vygantas Sudaris, said that in order to ensure the cleanliness of the premises and the hygiene of patients, the need for disinfectants and other protective measures remains high.
“The Compulsory Health Insurance Fund is not infinite and it is especially felt during the pandemic. The state distinguishes a set amount of protective measures, but this alone is not enough – some of them have to be purchased with our own funds. Compared to last year, we sometimes measure the price of certain measures, so we are very happy that we are very happy that We received a sufficient amount of disinfectant liquid, which we could even share with the Primary Health Care Center” – the head of the hospital shares the daily challenges.
According to the doctor, the need for disinfectants since the beginning of the pandemic has not decreased and is still reaching the highest possible limit. “We live in stressful conditions, so we are happy with the support of business companies. In addition to the help of “Kurana”, we also received a gift from the Pakruojis businessmen – a cold fog generator that disinfects the premises and the air,” added V. Sudaris.
The main product produced by “Kurana” located in Pasvalys is bioethanol, which is mixed into gasoline. However, when the coronavirus pandemic hit Lithuania last year, the company started producing hand and surface disinfectant liquid.
“Last year, we allocated 35 tons of disinfectant fluid to medical institutions free of charge, we continue this initiative this year as well. In keeping in touch with hospital managers, we see that the virus does not go away and many hospitals work in stressful conditions. Disinfectants are more in short supply for hospitals, so we are transporting the liquid specifically for them”, said Jurgis Polujanskas, CEO of Kurana.
